Whole Purebred Berkshire Hog Deposit
A whole, purebred, Berkshire hog is priced at $4.5lb. hanging weight + "processing." This is our third year of NOT raising prices!! Hanging weight refers to the weight of the pig after slaughter, bled, insides removed. Hanging weight = 72% of the live weight. So, using a pig at a live weight of 300 pounds x 72% = 216 pound hanging weight.
Therefore, in general, you will pay $4.50/lb. hanging weight (Minus your $356.50 deposit upon order), and the remainder paid to OFD Farm when your hog is slaughtered and the weight is determined - ensuring you only pay for what you get.
You would then pay "processing/slaughter" to Rob at The Bear's Den at pick up, 1-2 weeks later ($.80/lb. hanging weight + $75 for slaughter, $5 boxing fee, and any fee incured beyond standard cuts which will be noted on your cut sheet), and smoking/sausage fees paid to Bear’s Deb ($1.75/lb for ham, $2.99/lb for sausage and $1.795/lb for bacon) at pick up if you choose to get your meat smoked or any sausage 4-6 weeks later. Standard cuts are 1" thick steaks, 2 per pk, chops 4 per pk, roasts, ribs, and ground. Bratwurst or polish $4.49/lb Fresh, $4.99 lb smoked. All vacuum sealed. Any other special instructions like one steak per pk or anything else special requests $20 additional fee to cover supplies and labor.
OFD farm will handle booking butcher dates (these are already secured), and transportation to the butcher. You only have to pick up your finished product (and we can even arrange that if you are not local to the Twin Ports for an additional fee of $.40/mile). Our butcher is Bear's Den in Saginaw, MN for your fresh AND smoked products.

If you choose not to go forward with purchase of your pig further down the road, you forfeit the entire deposit and right to your cuts.
Any questions/concerns with the actual pig is the sole responsibility of OFD Farm. Any questions/concerns regarding the cuts of your meat, packaging, not getting what you ordered, missing meat, the smoking process, etc. is the sole responsibility of Rob at Bear's Den (218-591-1677).
